Take the motor taxi up through the favela of Vidigal, followed by a hike to the Dois Irmãos, the two iconic mountains at the end of the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon. The views from there of the city are amazing!
First the Dois Irmãos hiking tour will lead you through the pacified community of Vidigal. With the motor taxi we’ll go up on the hillside, passing through narrow alleys, experiencing the typical street life of the area. Favelas are an inseparable part of Rio’s landscape and these days it is safe to visit the neighborhood of Vidigal.
At the top of the favela, we will find the trailhead and there we’ll start to climb the Dois Irmãos, walking through Atlantic rainforest. During the trail on the mountains next to Leblon, there are some great views of the biggest favela in Rio, Rocinha. Once we reach the top (533 meters/1750 feet high) stunning views of Rio de Janeiro are awaiting us.
On the way back we’ll descend by foot, exploring the streets and alleys of favela Vidigal, all the way to the entrance where the tour started. The tour takes around 3 hours.
