New bike tour to Historical center Rio

Cycling in Rio de Janeiro is becoming easier and more appealing every day. Nowadays it is possible to bike from Copacabana all the way to the historical center of the city. Therefore we decided to launch a new bike tour in Rio, the Panorama tour, which will take you from Copacabana to the center and Lapa, the bohemian neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro.

New cycle lanes in Copacabana have made it possible to move away from the beach and cruise the back streets of this lively neighborhood, as we do in the first part of the bike tour. In the recent past it was literally impossible to cycle in Copacabana’s very busy streets, without risking your life.

Thanks to the new bike lanes visitors on bicycles can experience that Copacabana is more than just beach and hotels. It is also a place where different classes of Brazilians live together, where you’ll find the highest concentration of antique and jewelry shops and the highest percentage of elderly people in Rio.

From Copacabana we’ll pedal to Botafogo’s cemetery, known as well as the resting place for Rio’s elite and celebrity. Illustrious Brazilians that left their mark on Brazilian culture are buried here. Think of Oscar Niemeyer, the famous architect, or Tom Jobim, the towering figure of 1960s music style bossa nova.

After Botafogo the bike tour leads to the beautiful Bay of Guanabara, passing by Flamengo beach. Great views while cycling will accompany participants of this tour. In the historical center and Lapa there are stops at Cinelandia square, the Arches of Lapa and the steps of Selaron.

On the way back we’ll cycle through impressive Flamengo park, designed by Brazil’s famous landscape architect Burle Marx.  The last stretch of this bike tour through Rio de Janeiro will take you along the beach of Copacabana, probably the most famous beach in the world.
